Institute of Chinese Studies Institute
The Institute of Chinese Studies is part of the Centre of East Asian Studies. Founded in 2005, it comprises the Institutes of Chinese Studies, Japanese Studies, and East Asian Art History. The six research areas at the institute cover topics of history, culture, language, and society in China and the Chinese-speaking world, from its beginning until the present day.
Attached to the Institute is an extensive library containing more than 100.000 books and 40.000 journal editions. The library places special emphasis on resources pertaining to the late Qing and Republican eras, including a collection of historically relevant newspapers and magazines. The inventory is completed by a unique collection of Chinese movies, musical records, and databases. What is more, the resources on China‘s recent developments have been systematically expanded in recent years.
