Help and information Academic Advisor and heiCO Manager
At the Institute of East Asian Art History, students have two contact points to help them navigate their studies, an academic advisor and a heiCO Manager.
Academic Advisor
The academic advisor at the Institute of East Asian Art History is Dr. Monica Klasing Chen.
Her walk-in office hours are on Mondays, from 2PM to 3:30PM. If necessary, additional appointments can be scheduled by e-mail. Online meetings can also be arranged.
The academic advisor assists full-time and part-time students in planning their studies and answers questions about undergraduate and graduate programs.
The academic advisor is also responsible for approving certain documents and forms, that must be submitted to other administrative sections of the university, such as:
- Form for changing major or minor to “East Asian Art History” or “East Asian Studies with a focus on East Asian Art Histroy”
- Registration slip for BA thesis
- Registration slip for MA thesis and oral exam
- Registration of the minor for new MA students
- Learning agreements for studying abroad
- BAföG renewal forms (Leistungsnachweis)
- Forms for requesting a library carrel to work on theses and papers
- Arranging course plans for part-time students

heiCO Manager
heiCO serves as a platform for managing personal and performance data. We assist students with issues related to course registrations and credit transfers. Additionally, we provide transcripts that are required for studying abroad and job applications before graduation.
The heiCO manager at IKO is Katharina Rode-Kaya.
Her walk-in office hours are on Thursdays, from11AM to 12PM. If necessary, additional appointments can be schduled by e-mail. Online meetings can also be arranged.
The heiCO manager helps students with
- Transcripts (must be requested in advance, at least two weeks before submitting an application)
- Correcting of grades or courses
- Questions concerning exam registration
