Studies Term papers and theses

Term papers are written as part of introductory seminars, advanced seminars, and graduate seminars and are included in the assessment of academic performance. Theses are independent academic papers written towards the end of the degree program, in which students demonstrate their ability to solve complex problems using scientific methods.

Both term papers and theses have formal requirements that must be adhered to. Please see the “Guidelines for writing term papers and theses” for more information. It is also recommended that you check with your lecturer or thesis supervisor to learn if there are any other points that need to be taken into account.

An important part of every term paper and thesis is the declaration of originality and the declaration on the use of AI-based tools. Please download the template for this, fill it out, and include it in your work.

Information for theses

Please note the following binding regulations for submitting your thesis: Bachelor's and master's theses must be submitted in digital form (PDF file). Please send the file by e-mail to the Joint Examination Office of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Modern Languages. Further information can be found on the Joint Examination Office website.
