JSTOR (short for Journal Storage) is a United States-based online system for archiving academic journals, founded in 1995. It provides full-text searches of digitized back issues of several hundred well-known journals. It provides access to these journals from the first issue to a "moving wall" (depending on the title up to 11 years before the latest issue). This database includes over 600 publications about imperial China that have been published in Europe before 1850. The collection is based on "Western Books on China published up to 1850" by John Lust and reflects the perception of China prevalent in european societies of the time. |
