Database Information System (DBIS): East Asia Collection

Information:

Database Information System (DBIS) is a cooperative service for the use of scientific databases.

This service was developed with financial support by the Bayerisches Staatsministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) as well as the Universitätsbibliothek Regensburg. DBIS is currently being used by 255 libraries.


Content:

DBIS currently lists 9175 databases. Of these, 3354 databases are available online for free. DBIS only lists databases with searchable content.

The following types of databases will not be added to DBIS:

  • Static PDF oder HTML documents without search function
  • E-Journals
  • E-Books
  • Link lists
  • Single library catalogues

Access:

DBIS includes many databases that require licensing agreements. Info buttons indicate the access conditions for the respective databases:

F free access worldwide

D free access in Germany  (via DFG-license)

C available to associates of Heidelberg University; accessible via VPN or from within the university

U unrestricted access to associates of Heidelberg University;  others may only use these databases from within the University Library
