Mapping the Mines
This page presents the identified silver mines.
Mapping is the first and crucial step in reassessing silver mining. It is the basis of further work, such as filework on the sites, collecting oral histories, and relating data from other records that indirectly reflect on the mines, such as settlement and cultivation patterns, sediment cores that reflect mining pollution, etc.
The actual sites identified from maps and by fieldwork are shown in the map; the available information on each mine will be shown in clickable windows.
