Am 20. Juni 2012 veranstaltete das Institut für Kunstgeschichte Ostasiens das Symposium "Art, Artist and Artifacts in 17th and 18th Century Japan". Ishibashi-Gastprofessor Matthew McKelway, Columbia University, und Prof. Hans Bjarne Thomsen, Universität Zürich, stellten neben Melanie Trede und Anton Schweizer (beide IKO) ihre neuesten Forschungen vor.
