Dr. Vincent B. Lesch Current projects

Vincent Lesch’s research currently focuses on consumer protection and consumer education within Japan’s society and education system. His work examines legal frameworks, educational policies, and the practical implementation of consumer education and protection at the micro level, particularly in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Civil society organizations and NPOs play a central role in advancing consumer awareness, safeguarding vulnerable groups such as young adults and seniors, and promoting the broader integration of SDG principles into education and everyday life.

Lesch is also part of the trilateral research project “Mediating the Plurality of Aging” (HCTS Heidelberg University – Kyoto University – EHESS Paris). In the project he explores interdisciplinary perspectives on aging and analyzes Japanese policy measures as well as regulatory and social innovations to assess their transferability to European contexts – for example, AI-based assistance systems for older adults or community-oriented platform solutions in elderly care. Lesch chaired the Early Career Researcher Panel (Kyoto 2024) and contributes as a speaker to the follow-up events in Heidelberg (2025) and Paris (2026).
